ABOUT ME

Repairing and refurbishing washing machines and other domestic appliances has always been my passion! Ever since childhood, I have wanted to run my own business in domestic appliance repair. I have spent 5 years gaining valuable experience working for large service organisations but have now decided it is the time to start my own business. Therefore I have created Washer George to offer a more local, personalised service in York and the surrounding areas.

Washer George – Terms and Conditions Last updated: October 2025

1. Booking a Repair
When you contact me to request a repair, I will first confirm that your property is within my service area and that your appliance type is one I can repair. Once confirmed, I will quote you the relevant Service Charge for your appliance. If you agree to proceed, I will take the necessary details to schedule your appointment and confirm a date and time with you as soon as possible. During my visit, someone aged 18 or over must be present for the duration of the appointment. This person must also be able to make payment for the call-out fee.

2. Service Charges and Pricing
Standard Call-Out Rates
* Freestanding Appliances: £50 + cost of parts
* Integrated Appliances: £60 + cost of parts

Your callout Charge includes both:
* My attendance at your property
* All labour required for diagnosis and/or repair
This charge remains fixed regardless of how long the diagnosis or repair takes.
Any parts needed are charged separately. If parts are purchased through me, the second visit to fit those parts is included in your original Service Charge. If you supply your own parts, a separate second visit fee may apply. Payment is due on the first visit.
For rental or commercial properties where the bill payer will not be present, payment must be made when booking. I do not offer free call-outs or free diagnosis visits. The Service Charge is payable even if you decide not to proceed with a repair after fault identification.

3. Payment Terms
Payments are accepted by bank transfer, cheque or cash.

4. COVID-19 Policy
If either I, Washer George, or the customer must postpone a repair due to COVID-19 isolation, any money already paid will not be refunded. The repair will resume once the isolation period has ended.

5. Spare Parts Availability and Ordering
I carry a range of commonly used spare parts to maximise the chance of a same-day repair. However, due to the number of appliance brands and models, specific parts may need to be ordered. If parts are required, I will provide a quote and estimated delivery time. All parts must be paid for in full before I place the order. Once fitted, spare parts are non-refundable and non-returnable, unless they are faulty. Faulty parts will be replaced free of charge within the guarantee period. Out of Stock and Special Orders If a part must be specially ordered or is out of stock, I will inform you of any delays before you confirm the order.
Special orders cannot be cancelled and are non-refundable once placed, unless the agreed lead time is exceeded.
Alternatively, you may choose to source the part yourself, and I will fit it at no extra charge.
Customer-supplied parts are not covered by my Repair Guarantee. If your self-sourced part is incorrect, damaged, or does not fit, a £35 call-out fee will apply. Obsolete or Unavailable Parts If a part is discontinued or unavailable from the manufacturer or my suppliers, I will notify you. You may attempt to source the part independently.
If you locate a suitable replacement, I will refit it free of charge. If your sourced part does not fit or is incorrect, a £35 reduced visit fee will be charged.
In all cases, the initial Service Charge remains payable and is non-refundable. Spare Part Pricing Parts supplied by me come directly from manufacturers or authorised suppliers.
All prices are quoted in advance.
I do not price match or refund the difference if you find a cheaper price elsewhere.

6. Self-Supplied and Self-Fitted Parts
Customer-Supplied Parts
If you choose to source your own parts instead of purchasing them through me, please inform me in advance.
A £35 fitting fee will apply for this visit, payable when booking.
Self-Fitted Parts
If you decide to fit your own parts and the issue remains unresolved, any further visit or inspection will incur a new £35 Service Charge.
The original Service Charge does not cover further work once customer-fitted parts are involved.

7. Obscure Appliance Brands
For lesser-known or non-UK-supported appliance brands, I will do my best to source compatible parts through authorised suppliers.
If no parts are available, you may need to contact your retailer.
If neither of us can obtain the required parts, the Service Charge remains payable and non-refundable.

8. Repair Guarantee
All repairs carried out by me are covered by a 3-month (90-day) guarantee on both parts and labour, provided the parts were supplied by Washer George. If you supplied your own parts, only the labour is covered, and only if the same fault reoccurs. If the fault reoccurs due to my workmanship within the guarantee period, I will return and fix it at no cost.
If the issue is unrelated, a £35 call-out fee will apply. Exclusions from the Guarantee * Repairs involving removal of blockages or foreign objects * Door components (handles, hinges, etc.) * Door seals * Cosmetic items (facias, trims) * Drum lifters

9. Invalidating the Guarantee
If you believe your repair is not effective, I must be given the opportunity to inspect the appliance.
If another engineer or third party attends before I do, the guarantee becomes void.
I will not refund any fees or cover any third-party costs in these cases.

10. “Fitted Part but Now Also Requires…”
Some repairs reveal further faults once a component has been replaced, particularly with electronic components such as PCBs. If additional parts are needed after an initial replacement, I will quote separately for those parts.
Fitted parts cannot be refunded unless they are proven faulty or misdiagnosed.
If misdiagnosis is suspected, I will demonstrate that the original part was genuinely defective.

11. Pre-Existing Installation or Environmental Issues
If I identify damage or installation issues such as leaks, mould, corrosion, or improper fitting, I will inform you before continuing.
If you choose to proceed, I cannot accept responsibility for any resulting damage linked to those existing problems.

12. Cancelling a Repair
You may cancel your repair at any time before my arrival and receive a full refund of any pre-paid Service Charge, provided that: * You contact me directly by phone (07523 959 695) or email (washergeorge30@gmail.com), and * The cancellation is made before I attend your property Once I have attended, the Service Charge is payable, regardless of whether you proceed with the repair.
I do not offer free estimates or free call-outs.

13. Refund Policy
Where a refund has been agreed, it will be processed immediately and you should expect to receive it within 48 hours.

14. Privacy Policy
* I do not share your personal details with any third party not directly involved in your repair. * I do not store or share your credit or debit card details.

15. Complaints Procedure
If you wish to raise a complaint, please email washergeorge30@gmail.com or text 07523 959 695, including your job reference and appliance details. All complaints must be made in writing so there is a clear record of communication and resolution.
Complaints are investigated within 24 hours of receipt.
I do not handle complaints by telephone.

16. Amendments to These Terms & Conditions
I reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice.
The most recent version will always be available on my website, and by booking a repair you agree to the current version in effect at the time of your booking.
